Gemma Hobbs is a freelance travel writer based in Sydney, who covers a wide range of travel stories and ideas using her considerable knowledge and research skills.

I have a real passion for traveling the world and absorbing all the different cultures and landscapes that this planet has to offer. I also firmly believe that whilst the world is seemingly shrinking as we embrace a global culture, it has subsequently become ever more important to communicate the unique local aspects of life shaped by the landscape and culture of each place that makes it unique, and I aim to do this through my writing.

Travel writing is not just about telling people where the best beaches are and how delightful a particular region or area is, it is about painting a picture of what it is like to live there and how you can enrich your own travel experiences by embracing the culture and respecting their landscape and environment.

I take great care to research each chosen subject location and always look to identify what it is that would make a visit there unique to anywhere else. With this in mind I always appreciate the feedback that I get from readers and take great pleasure from hearing how someone has acquired some treasured memories of their own, hopefully after being inspired to visit as a result of reading about a destination.
